Mrugesh(Monty) Patel
I was born and raised up in India. My father, mother, sister, and wife have played a major role behind what I have achieved right now and there is no greater appreciation that I can give them but to continue to strive.
Education:
I did complete B.Pharm in 2012 and after qualifying GPAT and NIPER, I had a chance to pursue M.Pharm at L. M. College of Pharmacy in India and completed in 2014. I moved to Canada in 2015 where I joined Centennial College and completed Pharmacy Technician 2 years diploma program. After moving to Alberta, I challenged PEBC and became a registered pharmacist in 2019.
Professional Experience:
I was tutoring GPAT/NIPER coaching class while pursuing M.Pharm. I worked as an Assistant Professor for 2nd and 3rd year B.Sc. Chemistry students in 2012-2014. After completing M.Pharm, I was selected in a placement to work as a research scientist at Phyto Pharmaceutical LTD in 2014 and served for 1 year. While studying Pharmacy Technician in Toronto, I had the opportunity to work at Hospital Pharmacy, Shoppers Drug Mart, and independent pharmacies. After I registered as a pharmacist in Alberta, I have worked at Remedy’s Rx, Calgary for 3 months as a part of my contract where I met my mentor Hubert Pham and learned a lot from his experiences. I did work with Rexall at the Hinton location and currently working as a pharmacy manager at Rx Drug Mart located in Boyle, Alberta since the last 9 months where I met another great personality Kevin Kowalchuck. My current practice focuses on management on chronic diseases and to reduce the communication gap between patient, doctors and pharmacist.
Leadership History:
I would like to share one of my leadership experiences where a number of students were able to receive their rights for an entitled stipend. In 2012, when I joined L. M. College of Pharmacy I was entitled to receive a stipend of around $600 per month for 2 years. Unfortunately, due to some mistake from Government, 121 students along with me were not receiving stipend for past 3 years. Under my leadership, signed the petition by 121 students and filed the court case and we won in 2014 and the Government had to release roughly $1M to all batchmates and seniors.
Vision and Activities:
After facing the COVID 19 pandemic I see more future for E-Patient and E-Prescribing.
Community patients will try to adapt the on-line services more as compared to traditional dispensing.
To provide support to victims of robbed pharmacies that rose during the COVID19 pandemic.
To provide equal opportunity to all Alberta pharmacies.
To make enough resources available to reduce the communication gap between patient, doctors and pharmacist in order to deliver best possible care to the patient.
To provide enough compensation for extra services that pharmacy attempts.
